Hello and welcome back to my first blog of this term.

 

This week, we started prepared and delivered the Seeds and Gardeners assembly. It was about our relationship with our Seeds. We wrote letters to them and in exchange they showed us the portraits they had painted of us which I think were inspired by a mix of Banksy and Picasso.

On Tuesday, Years 5 and 6 walked down to Mass at St. Mary Magdalene's Church. It was a great walk and I think we definitely got in the mile of the day. Father Swift talked to us about Halloween being celebrated the day before All Saints day. A saint is a person acknowledged as holy or virtuous and regarded in Christian faith as being in heaven after death. 

I visited the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester to take part in an interactive exhibit called ‘Power Up’. It showcased the very best video games from the past five decades. There were over a hundred different consoles and there was something for everyone. I was very impressed that there was such a huge variety spanning from Pong to Pac-Man and Mario to Minecraft. My mum rediscovered a childhood favourite when she saw the Commodore 64. We found out that it was the highest selling home computer of all time. I have never seen so many children and adults happy at the same time.

I went to a swimming gala in Cheshire on Saturday with Ethan from Year 4. Twenty-three independent schools took part. I competed in the under 12’s Freestyle and Breast stroke. I was amazed at how much talent and dedication was on display. Some swimmers seemed to swim at lightening speed (including Ethan). It was a great experience and I am really glad I took part because I think it is important to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while.

In other news, Rishi Sunak has become the new prime minister. He replaces Liz Truss who lasted 45 days before she stepped down from the job. He is the UK’s first prime minister of South Asian heritage with a great task of improving the economy. 

This Saturday was Bonfire night and many people bought fireworks or went to a display. I hope all of you had a good time.
