Forest School

We pride ourselves on taking learning out of the classroom, which means all our pupils get to experience our stimulating Forest School sessions – learning under a dense canopy of trees within the school’s exciting woodland areas. Here we encourage children to take risks, discover, build and play.

In Forest School, our specialist teacher guides pupils to learn skills such as:

  • Problem solving and teamwork tasks
  • Growing plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables
  • Fire lighting and cooking over a live fire
  • Learning the use of tools, such as a bow saw
  • Bush craft and survival including den building
  • Erecting tents
  • Knot tying
  • Arts and creative activities, using natural resources and inspiration from nature
  • Tree activities; animal activities; sensory activities
  • Maths, English and Science based outdoor activities

Our wonderful facilities include an outdoor classroom, a dipping pond, a polytunnel and extensive forest school areas with mud kitchens, gross motor skill development equipment, and a myriad of willow structures.
